I was also one cup, typically I dope mine up with protein, fat, and creatine. I dropped to a half calf bean first, like 35mg per serving which was my first clue that the volume of caffeine itself was an issue. Then a mushroom blend, which was a mediocre substitute then to water and greens. Did that for a couple months

After the detox it’s been mellow to have a decaf or half caf 1-2 days a week

I’d been wondering if there were adverse effects I needed to recognize. I was wondering if it’s more encouraging of being distracted in my mornings as well.

I’d say it’s person to person I’ve cut it cold turkey and felt I was less productive with my code work. My happy medium is one latte a day in the morning during the week and swap to decaf on weekends

That’s a good one to try out, I still get a chaotic amount of distraction. Cbd seems to help me with that, which was also a recent revelation. Thc alone was too much so tried going 50:50 and that was magical, but I just switched to a 10:1 cbd and that’s been great. For me the biggest change has been gut things

Yeah these are super personal within a range I’d assume. Have you compared lowered caffeine dosage vs no caffeine?

Had a coworker explain this well to me “People drink coffee when they’re tired to be less tired and that’s wrong. You should use it to amplify your highs and make the most of those highs. Rest and work on less cognitively demanding work when you’re on your lows”

I currently dabble with mixing in loose leaf teas during the day. I like them and also has less of a caffeine spike I’m not all to scientific with the caffeine dosages

That said, my wife has been off caffeine for almost 2 years for pregnancy and breast feeding.. Instantly happier given the same amount of sleep when she got her daily caffeine back

When I got Covid a year or two ago, I felt terrible and stopped drinking coffee so I could sleep more. Months later I did a week with no coffee as an experiment and realized many of the symptoms I attributed to Covid were actually somewhat/mostly the coffee withdrawal

I switched to decaf, then to green tea, which I found to be bitter/refreshing enough, plus a more even “high.” Now after about a year, I‘ve found I can have the occasional very nice coffee without the gut/jitteriness issues I had before.
