If I was running Warpcast, I'd be laser focused on Search & Expertise type features Warpcast as a social network is ok Warpcast as a way to find and connect with people with specific expertise in web3 is unparalleled

@kazi

Sound strategy and what would be the growth plan?

David Moon

@davidmoon

So you want a reddit/ stack overflow

Manuel

@manuelmaccou.eth

I would love to play a role in this with endorsements by @mosaicnetwork. Your point was one of the goals I explained in the launch video. Farcaster, not just Warpcast. I’m just having a hard time finding the time to do this the right way. If you’re open to teaming up, I’m down to explore it.

KMac

@kmacb.eth

Interesting. I went to LinkedIn as first thought. Is SO still relevant with AI? Used it once since December.

David Moon

@davidmoon

I think for most cases, a lot of devs still go to SO for debugging. Not sure for implementation as much these days.

tldr (tim reilly)

@tldr

This feature would be so valuable here!

KMac

@kmacb.eth

Gonna be super interesting to see how SO implements AI. The community aspects never sucked me. ✌️

caz.eth

@caz.eth

Don’t you think this would limit the user base to only web3 folks?

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

in case you were wondering: LinkedIn = $10B revenue Twitter = $3B revenue

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

Solve a local painpoint and then expand out from there

Kevin

@kevinoconnell

SO’s community is so bad lmao

Jacob

@jrf

"Warpcast as a way to find and connect with people with specific expertise in Web3" I feel like it already is that, no?

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

it's the part of WC that is most valuable (painkillers vs. vitamins) imo, so lean into it hard - there's no way to search for people in Warpcast based on their bios or expertise, or events or groups - there's no way to search for people based on their casts - there's no way to search for casts - follow topics

Sam

@samantha

@matallo.eth remember i was talking to u ab this w pincaster

MOLO

@molo

endorsements is a terrible feature and nobody should build it

Jacob

@jrf

I agree with that 👆 💯 I'm thinking you can search by keywords on 3rd party web apps but would be great to have these as native functionalities

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

I've given up on championing 3rd party FC apps until permissionless signups and apps can control their own destiny but i'm super passionate about farcaster taking off as a protocol and network so i think Warpcast should do this as it solves a real painpoint and I think it will ↗️ activation & ↘️ churn

Jacob

@jrf

It could be a ⚡️ feature Would need to think of ways to minimize spam messaging beyond mutual opt-in DCs (which are already a bit spotty)

Gregor

@gregor

Link to POAPs in bio? 🤷‍♂️

pjs

@pjs

Desperately want search. I encounter friction around this multiple times a day.

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

as someone who built a search outside of warpcast... warpcast needs to build search asap

Carlos Matallín

@matallo.eth

I know it’s not in Warpcast, but how would you improve search in Pincaster? Make sure to visit explore too

dylan

@dylsteck.eth

I’ve been wanting keyword search since Day 1!! 🙌 🙌

Daniel Lombraña

@teleyinex.eth

Is anyone using that when hiring?

Daniel Lombraña

@teleyinex.eth

This would be awesome. Probably it would be best to integrate attestations.sh so people can attest what others have done and use it to build your portfolio.

MOLO

@molo

idk but i’d guess no and it wouldn’t be used for more social purposes either

Daniel Lombraña

@teleyinex.eth

For me is just bragging.

Aghahowa Daniel

@userman

I think I’ll do a mini project on this. Thanks for the idea👉👈

Peter Ferguson

@peterferguson.eth

Interested in your problems you have had with DCs… just spam type messages or?

Jacob

@jrf

My issue with DCs on Farcaster isn't spam, it's that they sometimes disappear But it'd be great to have group chat DCs, and to have more in-chat features like sharing images

🌹 Zach Harris 🥀

@zachharris

Wait, confused… weren’t you trying to offload Jam last week? Does that mean you were laser focused on search and expertise type features?

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

“If I was running Warpcast” as the base / default app for Farcaster is very different from running an alt app

🌹 Zach Harris 🥀

@zachharris

That’s true. Perhaps certain feature level requests on client side have been deprioritized due to the trade-off of them not existing on protocol level? Ex. If Rome was building the baths while they were also building the aqueducts. Might be a slippery situation… @v & @dwr.eth do you have public product roadmaps?

Lior

@lior

True, though there is a niche full of players focusing on the talent protocol aspect. Eventually there is a good chance all of these networks will integrate over to a single social graph, but until then we're gonna see a lot of fragmentation imo

Sheldon Trotman

@sheldon

I see Warpcast as a showroom of the features of the Farcaster protocol which is more about the social network aspects. That means that another product could pop up (@jam 👀) specialized for that particular vertical.

Ignas Peciura

@ipeciura

Never. And I've hired a lot of people.

Jayme Hoffman

@jayme

The beauty of farcaster is that you can run this ;)

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

cannot realistically until permissionless signups

Jayme Hoffman

@jayme

We solved this via: 1. Email me for invite 2. I invite if quality user

Duffy

@duffy

The beauty of FC is that the community can build products like this on top of the protocol. The FC team will be focused on core protocol features and will leave client ideas like this to the community

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

in theory yes, in the future but not rn when all FC signups must be done in Warpcast i believe Warpcast should make this the focus rn because WC = FC for the most part for the remainder of 2023 and this is the core value that users will stick around for (my hypothesis/conviction only)

Duffy

@duffy

I hear you, but @dwr.eth and @v have clearly laid out the vision and this is not it

drew fagin 🌊

@drews.eth

agreed. i use all the time

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

Exactly and that’s why the cast starts with “if I was running…” I’m not telling them what they should do, they have their plan I’m just offering an alternative reality for everyone to consider

Jason Goldberg

@betashop.eth

step 1: focus on increasing weekly activation and cohort retention get that right, and you can grow

T. Dylan Daniel | PageDAO

@epicdylan

That’s a great point! I’m thinking the strength of the Farcaster protocol is that it can do the jobs of all the existing social media networks. Twitter = Warpcast Medium = @paragraph LinkedIn = maybe also Warpcast? Goodreads = @matallo.eth ‘s Pincaster

T. Dylan Daniel | PageDAO

@epicdylan

Imagine the sharing possibilities… 🤤

Manuel

@manuelmaccou.eth

What is attestations.sh? It’s not loading for me

CryptoChem

@cryptochem

Couldn’t agree more on this. Warpcast needs something unique that gives value to users that Twitter doesn’t offer. Right now Warpcast gives better access to important thought leaders but the engagement is quite limited and engaging content is hard to find.

Manuel

@manuelmaccou.eth

1/2 This looks really interesting. I see a few of these companies pop up. Another just closed a $4M seed round. But one thing I still don’t get is these standards only mean something if everyone uses it. Just the fact that this new standard exists is moving the industry further from the solution of a single standard.

Manuel

@manuelmaccou.eth

2/2 How have these standards been successfully created in the past? It’s a strange paradox

Daniel Lombraña

@teleyinex.eth

Yep. There's this joke that if nowadays we would try to have a standard for batteries (AA AAA) it would be impossible

Hanh

@itshanh

have you come across backdrop.so? Part of current value prop is ability to search for expertise and flag availability for opportunities
